These Districts Will Follow Alternate Days School Schedule in Punjab

The Punjab government has named the districts that will open the schools on alternative days due to the excessive COVID-19 prevalence rate despite a notification from the federation saying otherwise. Punjab Minister for School Education, Murad Raas, announced this on Friday.

Sharing an official notification on his Twitter, Raas said that the document has exactly stated the districts that will still follow the alternate days of schools till April 1, 2021. The notification stated:

All public and private schools of Punjab: The following document exactly states the districts that will still follow the alternate days of schools till April 1st, 2021 due to COVID 19 conditions. The rest of the districts will follow the prior COVID 19 schedule.

As per the document, Lahore, Gujrat, Sialkot, Rahim Yar Khan, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Faisalabad are exempted from the federal government’s order to resume regular 5-6 day classes a week from March 1, 2021.

The notification states that the schools in these districts will continue classes on alternate days until April 1, 2021.

Note that the Federal Education Minister on Thursday had announced to resume regular classes in schools from the first of the next month amid decreasing cases of coronavirus.

However, the provincial education ministry has clarified that the districts that have reported more than 20 active COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours will continue the practice of 50 percent attendance on alternative days in schools for another month.
