Punjab’s Excise Taxation and Narcotics Control (ET&NC) Department has announced an e-auction for the acquisition of universal number plates. This step has been taken by the department to encourage the public in acquiring a unique universal registration number plate of their liking.
This would not only spark the interest of the masses to get their vehicles registered but would also help the department generate a considerable amount of revenue. To add to the encouragement, the e-auction will allow the public to book a vehicle registration number of their choice from the comfort of their homes.

The bidding shall commence from March 3, 2021, at 08:00 AM, and will continue till April 3, 2021, as per the schedule mentioned above. The bidding shall be done via the e-auction portal on the Punjab ET&NC department’s official website.
In a development last week, Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) on Excise and Taxation, Syed Ghazi Ghazan Jamal, revealed that Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KPK) government shall also be introducing universal number plates in KPK.
With the number plates becoming province-centric instead of being city-centric, the vehicle registration process will not only yield more tax income for the province but will also ensure more uniformity in the registration of vehicles.
