Xiaomi is one of the few Chinese smartphone manufacturers that are working on launching their own foldable phone by the end of this year. Moreover, earlier this year, a Xiaomi foldable phone was also spotted in a subway in China.
A recent leak by Ross Young of Display Search claims that Xiaomi’s foldable will launch as the Mi Mix 4 Pro Max. This is not surprising since Xiaomi’s Mi MIX series is known for bringing new technologies and features.
We hear the upcoming Xiaomi foldable may be called the Mi Mix 4 Pro Max. China Star is the display supplier, not SDC. SDC will provide an in-folding display later in the year, which will be a little larger.

According to Young, the display will be supplied by China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT), TCL’s subsidiary, and the phone will have an outward folding design.
However, the Xiaomi foldable phone spotted in China earlier this year had a crease that indicated an inward folding design. The company might be working on more than one foldable handset. Moreover, previous reports suggest that the company will be acquiring foldable phone displays from Samsung. Young also confirmed that SDC will be providing Xiaomi with an in-folding display later in the year, which will be a little larger.
Replying to comments, Young revealed that the upcoming foldable will have a Huawei Mate XS-like design and will measure 6.38-inches when folded. Unfortunately, he did not reveal any more information regarding the device or its launch date.
