Although Huawei’s smartphone sales have not been the best due to the ongoing fiasco with the US government, the company is advancing in other aspects of consumer electronics. The Chinese company unveiled three new smart TV models yesterday including the new V-series TVs that come with leading technology, cinema-level audio, and video output, and several other features.

Design and Display

The new V-series TVs are available in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch models and retain the design we saw in last year’s smart TVs. All the models have a front pop-up camera and narrow bezels on three sides.

The frame is constructed using aluminum alloy and 0.3 mm ultra-thin high-gloss stainless steel. The soundbar and the screen have been fused into a single piece that adds to the elegance.

As far as picture quality is concerned, the 65-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch models offer 1000 nits peak brightness while the 55-inch model has a peak brightness of 750 nits. For a more flexible backlight partition control, the 85-inch version also uses a direct-lit matrix partition with 168 partitions.

The TVs are equipped with Brightness Control Pro technology that improves the contrast of the picture by adjusting the real-time divisional brightness of each frame.

Huawei Smart Screen V-series

In addition to this, the V-series TVs come with a high refresh rate of 120 Hz and are equipped with Huawei’s fast and smooth technology for improved videos with low frame rate. These TVs are the first to arrive with the new smart screen product with HDR Vivid certification. Every frame in the movie has its own metadata based on which HDR Vivid optimizes the brightness, contrast, and color of each frame.

Performance

All models are powered by the Honghu 818 smart chip that features a dual-core Cortex A53 and dual-core Cortex-A73 architecture and clocked at 1.5GHz.

The sound quality is a key selling point here. The TVs adopt an ultra-thin subwoofer with high power, long-stroke, low distortion, thinner thickness, and lower low-frequency dive. These features are topped with several audio modes including Auto, Devialet, Standard, Cinema, Music, News, Custom.

The pop-up mechanism houses a 24 MP ultra-wide-angle AI camera that supports a 1080P high-definition video chat. It is backed by an intelligent portrait tracking algorithm which means the camera can recognize the portrait intelligently without moving so that the character display is always in the middle of the screen.

As far as the software is concerned, the TVs run HarmonyOS and feature newly developed entertainment scene functions.

Pricing and Availability

All models are currently available for pre-orders. The pricing details are as follows:

  • 55-inch model – ~$839
  • 65-inch model – ~$1221
  • 75-inch model – ~$2,136
  • 85-inch model – ~$3,358
