Skardu & Gilgit Have Become Busiest Airports in Pakistan

Skardu and Gilgit have become two of the busiest airports in the country with a significant increase in the number of flight operations.

According to the details, almost 16 PIA flights operated to and from both the cities on Tuesday and the airport saw a lot of activity with continuous arrival and departure of flights at the same time.

The national air carrier operated eight flights each to Gilgit and Skardu in a single day – the highest number of flights ever operated in a day in Pakistan’s history.

According to the official spokesperson of PIA, the expansion of flight operations are in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision to promote tourism in the country, adding that PIA is working to provide affordable and convenient travel services to fulfill his vision and for the national interest.

He lauded PIA’s role in the development of these areas that depend heavily on air connection because of the difficult road network.

The spokesperson said that the air carrier offered affordable airfares considering the socio-economic considerations of this route adding that the response was quite encouraging as flights were conducted to capacity. The high-temperature factor in other parts of the country also played a positive role in encouraging people to travel to these places with pleasant weather and breathtaking views.

He further informed that it was ensured that passengers comply with government-issued COVID-19 standard operating procedures.
