You Can Now Convert Vehicle Registration Books to Smart Cards

The government has allowed all paper-based vehicle registration holders who pay token taxes at post offices to get their registration books converted to smart cards at the Islamabad Excise and Taxation (E&T) department.

Smart card holders will then be able to pay their token taxes via online banking or mobile application. This will eliminate the hassle of vehicle owners having to visit post offices or the E&T office to pay token taxes.

The facility is being solicited by the government to offer convenience to the public.

Additionally, the smart card holders can also pay their token taxes at any National Bank branch, the city app, post offices, or NADRA’s e-Sahoolat centers, as announced by the Director E&T Islamabad, Bilal Azam.

Note that there are only three days left to the extended deadline of the vehicle token tax payment, which is due on 30 June 2021, after which vehicle owners will have to pay a penalty over the actual token tax amount.
