Islamabad’s School Students to be Promoted Without Annual Exams

The students in Classes Prep through 7 in schools in the federal capital will be allowed to forego their annual examinations to be promoted to the next classes.

According to a notification issued by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), every student will have four formative/classroom assessments per subject, and each assessment will be worth 25 marks to make a total of 100 marks. These assessments will be maintained in the schools’ records to be verified by their heads.

The FDE made this announcement via a notification titled ‘Promotion Policy for Class I to VIII for Academic Session 2020-21’.

The examinations for Class 7 will be conducted in person by the concerned heads of the institutions according to the centralized date sheet, and the minimum pass percentage for each subject has been reduced to 35 percent for this academic year only.

The results of Class VIII will be announced on either 30 or 31 July while the summer vacations will be from 18 July to 1 August.
