The disruption started around Monday morning (PST) with more than 38,000 people reporting the Amazon website outage on Downdetector. According to Downdetector, 81% of the problems were related to the website, 15% of them were due to logins, and 5% had to do with checkout.

Most users on Twitter reported that they could not see any of the items they had selected. Selecting an item would just take customers back to the website’s homepage, while others were having problems with adding items to the cart.

The Amazon Help account on Twitter quickly reached out to customers and apologized for the issue. Amazon informed people that it’s working on the issue and should be able to fix it soon.

A few hours later, the company announced that the issue had been resolved.

An Amazon spokesperson said:

Some customers may have temporarily experienced issues while shopping. We have resolved the issue, and everything is now running smoothly.

The spokesperson declined to comment on the reason behind the outage.
