Intermediate’s Physics Paper Leaks Despite Tall Claims by Sindh Govt

The board examinations in Sindh have become a laughing stock for the rest of the country because of the prevalent ‘copy culture’ in the province as media reports exposed question paper leaks, and the open use of other cheating aides (mobile phones, guides, and papers) during the Matriculation examinations earlier this month.

Despite all its claims and preventive measures, the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has failed to prevent both leaks and cheating.

A similar situation was observed at the start of the Intermediate examinations in interior Sindh. Mobile phones were being openly used and answer guides were discovered in Mehrabpur and Nawabshah despite the presence of the invigilators during the Physics examination today.

The question paper was found to have been circulated on WhatsApp before the start of the examination in Mirpurkhas and was leaked in Sanghar, Mehrabpur, Nawabshah, Thari Mirwah, and Shaheed Benazirabad while the administration pretended to be mute spectators.

However, the situation was different at the examination centers under the Sukkur Board as the teams constituted by the board had raided various centers and seized cellphones being used for cheating.

The Secretary Sukkur Board, Muhammad Rafiq Pulh, told the media that cellphones have become a means of cheating during the Matriculation examinations.

“But now we are determined to make sure that students do not bring these phones with them to the examination halls, and in case they bring phones to the centers, we will snatch these from them,” he said.

He revealed that the Sukkur Board had constituted 21 special teams to prevent cheating, and has requested the provincial government to impose Section 144 in and around the examination halls.
