Pakistan won the four-match T20I series against West Indies by 1-0 as the fourth and final match of the series was also abandoned due to rain. Pakistan managed to win the series as they beat the West Indies in the second T20I by 7 runs. The rest of the matches did not produce resutls due to persistent rain.
This was Pakistan’s fifth bilateral T20I series win against the West Indies, while the West Indies have only won one series against the Men in Green. Pakistan’s T20I record against the West Indies is spectacular. Both the teams have encountered each other 18 times. Pakistan has won 12 matches and has lost only 3, while the other three matches have ended in No Result.
Prior to the start of the series, both the teams expressed their intention to experiment with their line-ups and give chances to new players to make an impression leading up to the T20 World Cup in October. Pakistan head coach, Misbah-ul-Haq, had stated that the series is a perfect opportunity to try young players and tinker with the team combination.
Unfortunately for both sides, the players could not showcase their talent as three matches were washed out. Pakistan team management will be disappointed as they are yet to identify their strongest batting line-up as the middle-order failed once again during the second T20I.
Pakistan is scheduled to play at least five more T20Is before the start of the T20 World Cup, as New Zealand and England are set to tour the country within the next few months.
