WaBetaInfo explains that this issue is caused by a new bug on the instant messaging app. This is for users that received this message when trying to open WhatsApp:
Your phone number is no longer registered with WhatsApp on this phone. This might be because you registered it on another phone. If you didnt do this, verify your phone number to log back into your account.
The renowned WaBetaInfo reassures that it is nothing to worry about at is only a bug. For those unaware, the WaBetaInfo is a team of developers that keeps track of new updates and developments coming to WhatsApp.

There has been no official word from Facebook or WhatsApp regarding this issue. The company has neither acknowledged this issue nor denied it.
