The Lahore High Court (LHC) has accepted a petition against the Pakistan Medical Commission’s (PMC) decision to conduct the Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) on different dates across the country.
Last month, the PMC had announced to conduct medical college entry tests between 30 August and 30 September at various places across the country.

However, the petitioner Khushbakht, a college student from Lahore, has moved to the high court against the decision through her counselors, Advocate Arshad and Ali Imran Rao. The petition contended that those appearing for the examination on 30 August will get lesser time to prepare for the test as compared to others sitting at the later dates.
It stated that their chances of succeeding in the entry test and getting admission to the desired university will ultimately go down as well.

Calling it a discriminatory approach, the petition argued that the entry test in 2020 was conducted on the same date across the country despite a spike in coronavirus cases.
“The same pattern should follow this year as well,” the petitioner said and demanded a new schedule for the entrance exam.
The Registrar Office objected that the date sheet was not attached with the petition, however, Justice Tanveer of the LHC overruled the objection and ordered to fix the petition for a hearing.
