The Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar, has announced that a rescue air ambulance service will be started in the province.
He chaired the passing out ceremony of 393 rescuers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 73 rescuers of Koh-e-Suleman, DG Khan, at the Emergency Services Academy, Thokar Niaz Beg on Monday when he made the statement.
He added that Punjab will the first province to start the rescue air service.

The budget for the service has been allocated in the ongoing fiscal year, and the CM affirmed that the approval of the risk allowance for rescuers on the pattern of the Punjab Police will be reviewed and work will be started to restore the allowance that has been frozen since 2017.
While speaking about Rescue 1122, he revealed that it has saved countless people in over 96 lakh medical emergencies.

The provincial government has also extended rescue services to 86 tehsils and motorbike services to 27 districts, and CM Buzdar commended the different initiatives taken by the PTI-led government to improve the rescue services in the country.
Furthermore, he praised the rescuers particularly for their work during the pandemic which involves shifting COVID-19 patients to hospitals and quarantine centers.
The CM also stressed compliance with the COVID-19 SOPs, especially during Muharram processions and Majalis, and directed their participants to wear facemasks while observing precautions during the fourth wave of the pandemic in the country.
