The Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Shibli Faraz, on Tuesday, invited public and opposition parties to examine the locally manufactured electronic voting machines (EVM) assuring them that the government would make efforts to address their concerns.
“I am asking the opposition to not oppose it without any examination and should send their technical experts to review its working,” the minister said.

He informed that a model machine has been prepared which will be shown to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and ECP’s decision will be accepted after the examination.
“ECP is a constitutional institution and the government cannot dictate it,” the minister stated.
The minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken a revolutionary step to ensure fairness and transparency in the next elections.
“Even the ECP is opting for technological change for improving the electoral process,” the minister informed.

Earlier the minister said that almost 350,000 to 400,000 EVMs are required in the next elections which must be set up in six months.
