Punjab to Launch Crackdown Against Unvaccinated Teachers

The Punjab School Education Department (SED) has decided to clamp down against the teachers who have still not received their jabs against the COVID-19.

The Punjab government had made vaccination compulsory for all teaching and non-teaching staff and 22 August was the last date to get inoculated. Officials who haven’t gotten vaccinated by the deadline will not be allowed to enter the school premises.

The positive side is that a majority of teachers, nearly 98 percent of them, have been fully vaccinated until now. According to the SED, 600,000 teachers of public and private schools had received the vaccine while only 3,800 teachers are yet to get their jabs against the coronavirus.

The education department had made it mandatory for teachers to submit their vaccination certificates in their schools. Special monitoring teams of SED will now conduct surprise visits at various schools to check the certificates.
