Tarbela Dam Will Reach Its Maximum Level In Next 48 Hours

Tarbela dam is likely to reach its peak level of 1550 feet by 1st or 2nd September, however, Mangla dam will not be able to achieve its maximum level during the current season.

According to the officials of the Indus River System Authority (IRSA), Tarbela is currently at  1547.68 feet and if the current flow continues it will achieve its peak level within 48 hours.

If Tarbela achieves its maximum level, the country will have enough water storage for the Rabi season starting from 1 October.

However, Mangla dam will not be able to reach its peak level of 1242 feet as it is currently over 42 feet short of its maximum level, the official said.

The inflow in River Indus at Tarbela was 179300 cusecs on Monday against 143900 cusecs outflows.

Similarly, inflows in Kabul River at Nowshera were 22800 cusecs and outflows were 22800 cusecs, inflows in Jhelum River at Mangla were 17300 cusecs and outflows were 29400 cusecs, while inflows in Chenab at Marala were 48300 cusecs and outflows were 13000 cusecs.
