Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the 69-kilometer long Sialkot-Kharian motorway project on Thursday.
The premier spoke at the ceremony highlighting the importance of the project to promote Pakistan’s connectivity to the industrial area.
PM Imran said that the project is also important to incentivize the industrial sector for wealth generation to lessen the country’s debt.
He said that the government’s focus is to ease the process of doing business by removing hurdles in small and medium enterprises.
The idea of involving the private sector in the project will help the government divert its resources to other areas, the PM added.
“Pakistan has immense tourism potential, but the potential was not developed in the past. Projects such as the second phase of Swat motorway and Dir Motorway will help encourage both domestic and foreign tourism at the picturesque places,” the premier noted.
The PM was confident that in the future more private capital would be invested into road infrastructure projects.
