Major Overhaul Expected in Pakistan Cricket After Ramiz Raja’s Appointment

According to sources, a major overhaul in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is going to take place once Ramiz Raja is officially appointed as the chairman of the board. Sources have revealed that several long-serving officials will be removed from their posts as the incoming chairman is looking to bring in fresh faces.

There have already been some major changes in the Pakistan cricket team as head coach, Misbah-ul-Haq, and bowling coach, Waqar Younis, stepped down from the roles. According to reports, Ramiz had already informed Waqar Younis a few days ago that they will be removed from their positions as soon as he takes charge.

Ramiz will officially be appointed as PCB chairman after the elections on 13 September. It is expected that Ramiz will bring in several new faces in the whole setup and many more major changes will take place within the next few weeks.

Changes will not be limited to the offices and the national team but major changes are expected to be made at the National High-Performance Center (NHPC) as well. Sources revealed that new coaches will be brought in to replace the current ones including batting coach, Mohammad Yousuf.

Ramiz’s first major decision as the PCB chairman will be to appoint a new head coach and bowling coach of the national team. It is reported that Ramiz is looking to appoint a foreign coach, with the former England head coach, Peter Moores, currently the front-runner for the role.

NHPC’s Head of International Player Development, Saqlain Mushtaq, and Central Punjab’s head coach, Abdul Razzaq, have been appointed as interim coaches for the national team for the upcoming limited-overs series against New Zealand.
