KP Bans Entry of Unvaccinated Teachers and Staff

The Elementary and Secondary Education Department (E&SED) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has barred unvaccinated teaching and non-teaching staff members from entering educational institutions across the province.

The development comes after it was reported that most of the teaching and non-teaching staff in KP’s schools and colleges remained uninterested in getting vaccinated against COVID-19, putting the lives of students and their families at risk.

According to the official notification, unvaccinated teaching and non-teaching staff will not only be marked absent from duty but their monthly salaries will also be withheld until they get vaccinated and submit their COVID-19 vaccination certificate to E&SED.

E&SED has also warned principals of all schools and colleges in the province to ensure the vaccination of all teaching and non-teaching staff members at the earliest, otherwise, action will also be taken against them.

Note that E&SED is KP’s largest department, with its 165,000 employees accounting for nearly half of the workforce of the provincial government.
