NCOC Announces Extension in School Closure in Punjab, KP and Islamabad

The National Command and Control Centre (NCOC) has extended the closure of educational institutions in 23 districts of Punjab and KP and Islamabad due to the high prevalence of Coronavirus.

According to the official notification, all public and private schools, colleges, universities, and other educational institutes in these cities will remain closed till 15 September.

Besides, the NCOC has also extended the ban on all types of indoor and outdoor gatherings, all types of indoor gyms, and inter-city public transport till 15 September.

It will decide whether to lift or further extend these restrictions on 15 September.

On 3 September, the NCOC imposed these restrictions in 15 districts of Punjab, 8 districts of KP, and Islamabad till 12 September due to a sharp rise in Coronavirus cases. It also decided to review the decision on 9 September.

Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khanewal, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan are Punjab’s districts with a high prevalence of Coronavirus while Peshawar, Swabi, Malakand, Swat, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Dera Ismail Khan are KP’s districts with a high COVID-19 positivity ratio.
