CDA Approves Islamabad Bus Service Grant Worth Rs. 873 Million

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved a grant worth Rs. 873 million for the launch of the Islamabad Bus Service (IBS) project before March next year.

The IBS project aims at revolutionizing the transport facility by plying modern and comfortable buses on some of the busiest routes of the federal capital.

According to details, the IBS project will have six routes, with air-conditioned buses having a seating capacity of 70 persons and priority seating for women and differently-abled persons running on them.

However, only 30 buses will run on three routes initially, with 64 stops equipped with tuck shops and public toilets in between.

These routes are Tarnol to N-5 Metro Station, Sawan Interchange to Faisal Mosque, and Bhara Kahu to Faiz Ahmed Faiz Metro Station.

The buses will operate between 6:30 am to 9 pm on Mondays to Fridays and from 8 am to 10 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

The CDA will fund the IBS project initially and a private company will operate the project on a commercial basis in the future. It has also planned to offer no subsidies for the IBS project to make it financially sustainable.
