Younis Khan Likely to Join PCB Once Again

According to various reports, former Pakistan captain, Younis Khan, is set to be a part of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) once again. The legendary batsman previously served as a batting coach for the national team before his sudden resignation just a few months ago.

The major overhaul of PCB, as promised by the newly elected chairman, Ramiz Raja, is finally set in motion with three major changes already. Earlier, former head coach, Misbah-ul-Haq, and former bowling coach, Waqar Younis, resigned from their roles, and recently, PCB’s CEO, Wasim Khan, submitted his resignation to Ramiz.

It is still unclear in what capacity will the former middle-order batsman join the PCB, but it is likely that he will get an administrative role within the organization. Younis is seen as an ideal candidate by Ramiz as he believes that he possesses the required qualities to take Pakistan cricket forward.

Earlier, it was revealed that the former players, Aaqib Javed and Moin Khan, are also in line to get major roles within the PCB. It is now reported that Aaqib is hesitant to join the PCB as he feels he is better off as being the head coach of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) side, Lahore Qalandars.

Meanwhile, former off-spinner, Saqlain Mushtaq, is likely to be announced as the national team’s head coach for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Pakistan has already got the services of the former Australian batsman, Matthew Hayden, as the batting consultant, and the former South African pacer, Vernon Philander, as the bowling consultant for the mega event.
