Pakistan Railways will operate multiple trains under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to enhance passenger facilities and stabilize revenue. This shift will include prominent trains like the Karakoram Express, Karachi, Awam, Green Line, and more.
Pakistan Railways spokesperson announced the decision to operate several trains under the PPP model, aiming to improve passenger amenities and increase revenue.
The trains included are the Karachi Express, Mohenjo Daro Express, Mehr Express, Thal Express, Hazara Express, Green Line, Bolan Mail, Attock Express, Awam Express, Sukkur Express, Pak Business, Karakoram Express, Saman Sarkar Express, Jand Express, Marvi Express, Shalimar Express, Bahauddin Zakariya Express, Chenab Express, Chaman Express, Mehran Express, Kohat Express, and Rawalpindi Express will also be run under this model.
Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Railways, Amir Ali Baloch, emphasized the commitment to improving the travel experience for passengers. “The Public-Private Partnership will ensure that passengers receive top-notch facilities,” he stated.
He highlighted several upgrades already in progress, including the enhancement of dining cars. Premium dining cars will be introduced on Tezgam and Zakariya Express, among others. Additionally, executive washrooms have been constructed at the Lahore Railway Station, which have been positively received by passengers. Similar facilities are planned to be made functional at all major stations within the next three months.
