Taiwanese laptop maker Acer has released a treat for PC gamers on a budget. The company has released a new gaming monitor under its Nitro brand called the VG240YU, which brings 1440p resolution and a 180 Hz refresh rate for only $152, making it a steal.
Sadly, it is only available in China at the moment.
The VG240YU has a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440, (144op). Not only is it a smooth 180Hz refresh rate panel, but also an IPS screen, which means it has better colors, superior viewing angles, and faster response times than cheaper VA/TN-based panels. This means less motion blur, especially in fast-paced e-sports titles such as Overwatch 2. The screen can hit a peak brightness of 300 nits and has 8-bit colors.
With a quick 1ms response time, gamers can enjoy clear, blur-free action without ghosting. The monitor also delivers rich, realistic colors thanks to its 90% DCI-P3 color gamut, with a claimed HDR10 compatibility. This makes it ideal not just for intense gaming sessions but also for content creation tasks where precise color representation is crucial.
To top it off, the monitor features AMD FreeSync technology, ensuring smooth, tear-free gameplay by syncing the refresh rate with in-game framerate. Despite having “AMD” in its name, FreeSync works well with Nvidia and Intel GPUs as well. The same goes for Nvidia’s equivalent technology called G-Sync.
This monitor boasts a sleek design with minimal bezels on three sides, creating a near-edge-to-edge viewing experience. It’s ideal for gamers who use multiple monitors side-by-side. The adjustable stand lets you tilt the screen from -5 to 25 degrees for optimal comfort, and it’s also compatible with standard 100×100 mm VESA wall mounts for maximum flexibility.
When it comes to connections, this monitor is equipped with two HDMI 2.0 ports, a single DP 1.4 port, and even a 3.5mm headphone jack to connect audio devices directly to the monitor. The DisplayPort delivers the monitor’s full 180Hz refresh rate, while the HDMI ports are limited to 144Hz.
This monitor incorporates flicker-less technology and Acer’s ComfyView tech to minimize glare and reduce eye strain, keeping you comfortable for longer.
There is no word on a global launch date, so it is unclear whether this will officially come to Pakistan.
