HMD just launched their most powerful phone to date, the Skyline. This phone echoes the design of the classic Nokia N9. It boasts a clever feature called Gen 2 repairability, allowing you to fix a cracked screen or replace a dying battery in under 10 minutes.
Design and Display
Skyline features a large 6.5-inch OLED screen with super smooth visuals thanks to its high 144Hz refresh rate. It also boasts a high-resolution front-facing camera inside its punch-hole cutout, but we’ll get to that later.

The phone’s back cover can be easily opened with just a single screw, allowing users to replace cracked screens, fix bent charging ports, or swap out depleted batteries in under 10 minutes using standard iFixit repair kits. iFixit will also sell the necessary spare parts.
The phone even includes a customizable side button for one-touch access to your favorite apps and features.
Internals and Software
Under the hood, the Skyline packs a powerful Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, with either 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM. Storage options include 128 GB or 256 GB, with the ability to add up to 512 GB of expandable storage via a micro SD card slot.
It runs the latest Android 14 operating system and will receive updates for the next two years, with security patches for an additional three years. For those seeking a digital detox, the phone offers a handy “Detox Mode” that helps limit notifications and social media access when you need a break.
Cameras
HMD’s Skyline boasts a versatile triple-camera system on the back. The 108MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) naturally captures high-resolution images, while the 13MP ultra-wide sensor is ideal for expansive shots.

Rounding out the trio is a 50MP telephoto lens that offers 2x optical zoom and digital zoom up to 4x. HMD leverages AI smarts with its AI Capture Fusion technology, which optimizes details in all your photos.
Last but not least, the selfie camera is a whopping 50MP shooter, meaning you will get more detail than usual compared to rival selfie cameras.
Battery and Pricing
The Skyline keeps you going with a hefty 4,600mAh battery that supports fast 33W wired charging and 15W magnetic wireless charging via Qi2 technology.
HMD Skyline will set you back $499, but keep in mind there’s no power adapter included in the box.

Thanks to the phone’s user-friendly repairability features, you can purchase replacement parts directly from the manufacturer. A new display will cost $95, while the battery cover is $30, the battery is $25, and the charging port is $20. If you plan on tackling repairs yourself, a $5 iFixit repair kit is available as well.
