The Punjab government has decided to launch a tram service in Lahore to improve public transportation and beautify the city. The approval was granted during a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif at the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) headquarters.
The tram route will cover 11 kilometers, with stops every 1 to 1.5 kilometers, passing through key locations such as Liberty, Main Market, Mini Market, and Hali Road. Additionally, MM Alam Road will be made one-way to accommodate the tram route as part of a remodeling and beautification project.
Modern tram designs from Finland and China are under consideration, with the project estimated to cost Rs. 27 billion. A special stop will be included inside Gaddafi Stadium.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, with senior provincial minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, special assistant on political affairs Zeeshan Malik, and other officials, discussed and approved this initiative. The chief minister emphasized the quick completion of the project, although the official launch date will be announced later.
The administration will announce the ticket price for the Lahore tram service after the project is finished.
Additionally, the chief minister approved a plan for a signal-free corridor from Kareem Block to the Motorway, aiming to enhance Lahore’s traffic management.

Where it is a very good gesture to improve transpirtation government need to condider solution os already fully chocked roads no place to walk or drive, alk the punjab is migrating to lahore due to lack of basic services back home in small cities and towns, above all population explosion which nobodoy is talking about, weneed to keep the people in their place by providing basic services only then lahore can be seen as modern city, otherwise it will be soon over crowded polluted and we will not be able to even walk in lahore

What is the status of the flyover and underpass from Lahore railway station Allama Iqbal Road towards Canal / Dharam Pura / Saddar Cantt. Few months ago it was mentioned on television news that budget has been approved of this project!!!

80 % people of Pakistan are living below poverty line and the govt priority should to provide this fund to help poor people to sustain their livelyhood. create jobs by providing interest free loans to unemployed youth, upgrade hospitals and education institutions etc; in far flung areas and villages. give loans to farmers to help them grow better crops etc;
our country cannot afford projects like this and air ambulance, first make hospitals capable to receive patients and provide better treatment. No doctors agree to go to serve in village areas, even they do not want to go beyond city limits. Think, instead of applauding.
