Motorola to Set New Records With “World’s Slimmest” Rugged Phone

Motorola has announced plans to launch the world’s thinnest “military grade” smartphone, starting with India. The military grade label means the device will carry the MIL-STD-810 certification durability, indicating its resistance to drops, extreme temperatures, and humidity.

While Motorola hasn’t revealed the phone’s name, speculation points to the upcoming Edge 50 Neo as a potential candidate. This device is expected to succeed the Edge 40 Neo launched last year and will reportedly feature a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor with various RAM and storage options.

The Edge 50 Neo is rumored to feature a 6.5-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device will reportedly have a triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens.

For selfies, there’s a 32MP front camera. The phone is expected to house a 4,310 mAh battery and measure 8.1mm thick, weighing 171 grams. Color options are rumored to include Nautical Blue, Latte, Grisaille, and Poinciana.

The teaser from Motorola only says “coming soon”, there is no precise launch date yet, but since the teaser campaign has already begun, it will not be long before there is an official announcement. There is no word on an international launch either.

Additionally, there is no confirmation from Motorola whether this military-grade rugged phone will be the Edge 50 Neo, so we recommend taking this information with a grain of salt.
