Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will soon have a dedicated security wing to provide security to VIPs, reported a private news channel on Friday.
According to details, the Home Department has drafted a summary in this regard. The provincial government will reportedly hire 11,483 personnel for the security wing.
The private news channel, citing official documents, reported that 10,483 security personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are assigned to protect high-profile individuals, leading to a shortage of officers available for general public safety.
It has now been decided to establish a separate wing, named the Security Division, specifically for VIP security. This wing will involve the recruitment of 11,483 personnel.
The Security Division will include 8 Superintendents of Police (SPs), 105 Sub-Inspectors, 210 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 1,048 Constables, and 10,483 additional constables.
Recruitment will be conducted in three phases, with an annual budget exceeding 6 billion rupees allocated for this purpose. The Home Department’s summary will be sent to the cabinet for approval, and the project is set to be completed by 2026.
