The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed certain categories of sales tax registered persons to go to National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for biometric re-verification by August 31, 2024.
In this connection, the FBR has extended deadline for sales tax registered persons including individuals, members of association of persons (AOPs) and single member companies for biometric re-verification.
The sales tax circular number 2 of 2024 issued by the FBR on Tuesday said, under the provision of proviso to sub-rule (4) of rule 5 of the Sales Tax Rules, 2006, every individual, any member of an association of persons, and a director of a company having only one shareholder or member, as the case may be, are required to visit e-Sahulat Centre of NADRA during the month of July every year for biometric re-verification.
Under the provisions of section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, the Board has been pleased to extend the said time and direct that biometric re-verification by the said persons, in the manner as provided in the said proviso, may be made by August 31, 2024, FBR said.

I don’t get this practice for reverifcation of biometrics. What is the real purpose? Many business persons travel or reside outside of PK. It is very inconvenient to travel to PK for this purpose only. Request FBR to eliminate this clause of so called “reverification”.
