Govt Cuts Prices of Petrol and Diesel

The federal government has announced a cut in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel.

According to a notification issued by the finance ministry, the price of petrol has been cut by Rs. 6.17 per liter to Rs. 269.43, while the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs. 10.86 per liter to Rs. 272.77. The new prices will be applicable from August 1.

The government has also reduced the prices of kerosene and light-diesel oil.

It is pertinent to mention here that at the last fortnightly review of petroleum prices, the government raised the price of petrol by Rs. 9.99 per liter while the price of high-speed diesel was jacked up by Rs. 6.18 per liter.

The government had also raised the petroleum prices for the first fortnight of July which saw petrol go up by Rs. 7.45 per liter and high-speed diesel by Rs. 9.56 per liter.
