The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has passed the Provincial Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill 2024, which introduces changes to the allocation of traffic fines. Law Minister Aftab Alam presented the bill during the assembly session.
Key Amendments
The bill includes the following amendments to the allocation of traffic fines:
- 10% will be allocated to establish a welfare fund.
- 35% will be distributed as incentives among traffic police personnel.
- 1% given to gazetted officers.
- 12% given to ticketing officers.
- 22% given to traffic beat staff.
- 5% will be rewarded to personnel demonstrating excellent performance.
- 25% will be used for traffic training, education, and purchasing equipment.
Other Legislative Updates
During the session, the Zakat and Ushr Bill 2024 was further amended, and its discussion was postponed to the next session. Additionally, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Employees Bill was withdrawn due to objections raised by the Assembly Select Committee.
