WWE SummerSlam 2024: Here’s How We Would Book It

WWE SummerSlam 2024 is looking set to be one humdinger of a PPV. With a wide selection of potentially amazing matches, here’s how I would book it.

Match 1: Bayley (champ) vs Nia Jax. Singles Match for the WWE Women’s Championship

In a match that will be paramount for both the champion and challenger, Bayley will look to cement her reign against Nia Jax, who not only is going into this match with most of the momentum, but will also be gunning to win what would be only her second Women’s singles title.

With Ms Money In The Bank Tiffany Stratton lurking in the shadows, this match has subtly built up quite some intrigue. The match itself would be relatively straightforward, with Nia’s brute strength against Bayley’s speed and trickery; the match would mostly ebb and flow for a while till Tiffany Stratton (now with a shiny new personalized MITB case) runs in at a certain point to distract Bayley and allow Nia Jax to pick up the win.

We get a tease with Tiffany looking to assault Nia Jax, but ultimately saving it for another day. Anyway, Nia Jax is your new WWE Women’s Champion.

Match 2: Damian Priest (champ) vs Gunther. Singles Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

We’ve seen the build to this match essentially be a class war. Damian, the man who got to where he is by toughing it out on the streets vs Gunther who has been given everything he ever needs.

It’s going to be a very interesting clash of styles too, with the champ being more rough and tumble, while the challenger being a master technician. These two very styles somewhat perfectly mirror the whole class war thing as well.

The match would consist of Gunther primarily targeting Damian’s knee, with the champ fighting through the pain to try and overcome the odds. Near the end, Gunther lands the last symphony on a champion whose knee has all but given out. 1. 2. KICKOUT! While shocked and in disbelief, Gunther goes for another Last Symphony but Damian drops behind, pushes the challenger into the ropes and catches him straight into South of Heaven on the rebound.

Damian Priest pins and retains.

Match 3 : Logan Paul (champ) vs LA Knight (YEAH!). Singles Match for the WWE United States Championship

With this year’s WWE SummerSlam taking place in his home state, US Champion Logan Paul will be counting on home field advantage to come in clutch. As the challenger has repeatedly mentioned during the buildup to this match, he beat the champion the last time they faced off.

One can expect plenty of chicanery in this match from Logan Paul, who will be desperate not to lose in Cleveland. The match will be a cat and mouse affair, with Logan desperately avoiding anything that may constitute a one on one fight.

We’ll get that till Logan pulls out brass knuckles. LA Knight though, being somewhat of a shrewd fellow himself, will easily dodge any underhanded attempt, knucks get tossed out the ring and he hits the BFT to win. New Champion.

Match 4: Liv Morgan (champ) vs Rhea Ripley. Singles Match for the WWE Women’s World Championship

In a match revolving around not only the title, but also Dominik Mysterio, this one should be a doozy. Rhea Ripley is simply one of the most popular wrestlers in the world, but this is the first time in a while she’s facing an opponent after not only coming back from a lengthy break, but also her focus will be seemingly divided between Dominik and Liv.

This will also be a cat and mouse affair, with the champion’s gameplan will be to simply evade the monstrous strength of the challenger. Rhea will eventually catch the champ with a running clothesline. She’ll then attempt to lift up Liv for Riptide, but the champ will manage to hang on to a rope.

Whats this? BAM. Dominik Mysterio hits Ripley with the title. The bell rings, Rhea wins by DQ, but Liv retains, and Dominik formally turns on Mami.

Match 5: Sami Zayn (champ) vs Bron Breakker. Singles Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

Bron Breakker has been on something of a tear as of late, viciously running through everything just to get another shot at the IC title. Brutal strength vs speed and resilience is how this will pan out.

Breakker will establish dominance. Laying on a brutal beatdown, he will constantly mock and belittle the champion throughout the match. Sami will fight back, eventually tiring out the brute. Sami will then land a helluva kick, but the challenger will kick out. He’ll go for another, but will run right into a spear from Bron.

Bron will then lock in the Steiner Recliner. Sami will refuse to tap, but will begin to fade out. Suddenly, Ilja Dragunov, one of the men who has been the target of beatdowns by Breakker will show up. The challenger will break the hold to go and confront the intruder, but all of a sudden Sami will roll him up from behind. 1. 2. 3, Sami retains.

Match 6: Cody Rhodes (champ) vs Solo Sikoa. Singles Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship

Ever since this new iteration of ‘The Bloodline’ has assembled, the simple question has been when Solo will come for the big prize. Cody Rhodes laid down the gauntlet, challenging the supposed new tribal to a match one on one. Solo, while having quite the chip on his shoulder, will also be going into this looking to make it his first major accomplishment.

This will be a relatively even, back and forth contest till the inevitable interference by the rest of the new Bloodline.  Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Jacob Fatu will slowly move to the ring.

As they get closer though, another group of three will head them off. Styles, Gallows and Anderson will then brawl with the Tongans and Fatu, and Rhodes will hit a distracted Solo with the CrossRhodes to retain.

Match 7: CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre. Singles Match w/ Seth Rollins as Special Guest Referee

Ever since his return to the WWE, CM Punk has repeatedly rubbed Drew McIntyre the wrong way. The Scotland native has repeatedly taken jibes at both CM Punk’s unfortunate injury, as well as constantly bringing up his tumultuous exit from AEW. Punk has also resorted to interfering in McIntyre’s matches, most notably at Wrestlemania XL where the second city saint attacked Drew who gloated about his World Heavyweight title win, after which Damien Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to beat Drew then and there.

The feud then proceeded to intensify with Punk costing McIntyre further matches. The addition of Rollins as a guest referee also adds intrigue, with Rollins immensely critical of Punk as well as the victim of McIntyre’s failed (thanks to Punk) cash in. Rollins also stated that he would be lenient with the rules, which essentially makes the possibilities endless.

Punk will no doubt be cerebral and calculating with his approach, while a furious McIntyre will be looking to go gung-ho on his opponent. We’ll see plenty of counters with Punk initially calmly out wrestling the Scot, but McIntyre will land a Claymore kick out of nowhere.

He’ll go to grab a steel chair, proceeding to punish and beat Punk with it. He’ll target Punk’s previously injured arm, wedging his arm in the chair after a few solid hits. He’ll go to deliver a kick that will potentially destroy Punk’s arm completely, but Punk will avoid and McIntyre will crash and burn.

Punk will then gingerly lift up McIntyre for the GTS, hit it and win by pinfall. Seth Rollins however, will immediately assault Punk, laying him out and that’s where our show ends.
