PCB to Conduct Fitness Tests of Centrally Contracted Players Ahead Of Bangladesh Test Series

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that it will be conducting fitness tests for all centrally contracted Pakistani cricketers in preparation for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

Media reports suggest that, the Test squad players are expected to be called on August 9, with the fitness assessments scheduled for August 10. Some players might undergo their tests earlier based on their availability.

In addition to the Test squad, centrally contracted players who are available will also be called for fitness tests. The announcement of central contracts has been delayed, now contingent upon the players meeting specific fitness criteria.

Sources indicate that national cricketers will undergo five to six different fitness tests, with their fitness levels being evaluated according to international standards.

Moreover, it has been reported that some members of the Test squad will take part in the first four-day match against Bangladesh A. Fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Mir Hamza are likely to be included in the playing XI.

Shan Masood is expected to lead Pakistan as captain while Jason Gillespie will take charge at the helm for the first time as red-ball coach in the Bangladesh series.

Bangladesh is scheduled to travel to Pakistan on August 17 for a two-match Test series, which is part of the ICC Test Championship. The matches are slated to take place in Rawalpindi from August 21-25 and in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.
