PCB Chairman Lashes Out At Journalist For Questioning His Understanding Of The Game

The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, recently faced allegations from a journalist questioning his cricket knowledge.

Naqvi, who transitioned from business to politics and now serves as the Federal Minister for the Interior of Pakistan, responded with a strong rebuttal.

During a press conference, the journalist’s inquiry about Naqvi’s cricket acumen sparked a firm reply from the PCB chief. “Time will tell how much I know about cricket, but we are here to deliver. I don’t care about what people say, but you will see the results,” Naqvi asserted.

Naqvi stressed his dedication to overhauling the cricket system by enlisting the expertise of former cricket stars to eradicate favoritism. “I am bringing in former stars to vet and improve the cricket system and end this culture of personal likes and dislikes,” he declared.

In a related development, the PCB announced the introduction of three new tournaments for the Men’s Domestic Cricket Season 2024-25.

The newly unveiled competitions, named the Champions One-Day Cup, Champions T20 Cup, and Champions First-Class Cup, will augment the existing roster of events, including the National T20 Cup, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, President’s Trophy, President’s Cup, and HBL Pakistan Super League 2025.

The domestic cricket season is scheduled to run from September 1, 2024, to August 5, 2025, promising an action-packed calendar for cricket enthusiasts across the nation.

Naqvi’s vision for the PCB includes leveraging the experience of seasoned players to enhance the sport’s structure and performance in Pakistan.
