Dengue Virus is Spreading After Rainfall in Punjab

Dengue cases are on the rise in Punjab following recent rains, with 20 people testing positive for the virus in the past week across the province.

Public health experts have warned that the number of cases could increase further due to stagnant water accumulating in streets, ponds, rooftops, and open spaces after the rains.

Official reports indicate that 57 dengue cases were confirmed in Punjab over the last 30 days.

However, some officials allege that the health authorities may not be accurately reporting the true number of dengue cases. They suspect that the actual number could be 30 times higher than the official figures.

They also noted that family physicians running clinics in various neighborhoods across Punjab are reporting a significant number of patients with dengue-like symptoms.

Experts have urged the health authorities to intensify anti-dengue efforts, including checking and destroying mosquito larvae, to prevent further spread of the virus.
