First Pakistani Named President of Trinity College MCR at Oxford

Raza Nazar, a Bachelor of Civil Laws (BCL) candidate at the University of Oxford, has been elected President of the graduate community (MCR) at Trinity College.

His academic interests include constitutional law, jurisprudence, and political theory. Nazar is the first Pakistani to assume this role at the esteemed institution.

Raza Nazar attended Karachi Grammar School before completing his International Baccalaureate Diploma at the United World College in Singapore.

He then graduated with a Double First in Law (LLB) from the London School of Economics (LSE), where he was ranked 2nd in his year for Jurisprudence.

In addition to his academic achievements, Raza Nazar was the first Pakistani elected President of the LSE Law Society, which won the “Best Student Society” award in 2018 under his leadership. He also served as President of the LSE Pakistan Society at the London School of Economics.

At 19, Raza Nazar founded the LSE Future of Pakistan Conference, a student-run developmental forum connecting ministers, academics, and students annually.

Raza Nazar has authored several articles, including a paper for the Oxford University Comparative Law Journal (OUCLJ) on the Supreme Court case Jurists Foundation v Federal Government, which addressed the tenure extension of the Chief of Army Staff.

With his extensive academic and professional background, Raza aims to explore best practices for constitution-making in Asia and contribute to scholarship on the nature of constitutional duties to collectives.
