Lahore’s Thokar Niaz Baig Junction to Get a Redesign

To improve the entrance and exit points of Lahore, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced plans to redesign the Thokar Niaz Baig junction. This initiative aims to enhance the city’s main gateway, making it more beautiful and spacious.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq recently visited the Thokar Niaz Baig entrance point, where he was briefed on the proposed design by LDA Chief Engineer Asrar Saeed and officers from NESPAK. Chief Engineer Saeed outlined that the LDA would commence repair and maintenance work on the main entrance point of the city in the coming days. The project will include asphalt work, lane marking, beautification, and improved signage.

Additionally, the footpath will be widened and expanded to facilitate better traffic flow to and from the Motorway and Multan Road.

DG Farooq emphasized the importance of improving signage for the convenience of citizens. He also visited the LDA One Window Cell to review the processing of applications received in the last 24 hours. Expressing displeasure over delays in processing sifted files, Farooq stated that such delays were unacceptable and must be addressed immediately.

In response to these issues, DG Farooq convened a meeting with all directors of housing to discuss improvements to the One Window Cell’s operations. He stressed that non-performing officers would be held accountable and removed from their positions if necessary. Directors of housing and town planning were instructed to take responsibility for the pendency in their respective wings and to actively work in the field to resolve citizens’ problems.

Farooq directed that all directors of housing should be present at the One Window Cell during specific working hours and that the performance of all directorates would be reviewed weekly. He urged the directors to develop action plans to achieve their goals, emphasizing that there would be no compromise on performance.

During the meeting, specific tasks were assigned to each director to enhance overall performance, ensuring that the LDA’s operations are efficient and effective in serving the public.
