Last month, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) received 10,481 complaints during open kacheris (public meetings). Of these, 10,449 have been resolved.
Complaints were filed at 126 sub-divisional officer (SDO) offices. IESCO has urged the public to attend these open forums to ensure their electricity-related issues are addressed promptly.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Iesco, Mohammad Naeem Jan, made a surprise visit to several SDO offices in the Islamabad Circle to assess the progress of open kacheri, according to a statement.
Earlier this year, the power supply company accelerated its digitization and upgradation efforts by installing over 30,000 advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) meters in various areas of Rawalpindi, as part of its broader plan to enhance its infrastructure.
According to Chief Engineer Operations Director IESCO, Muhammad Aslam Khan, these meters were installed at domestic consumer levels in areas including Gulzar Quaid, Dr Abdul Qadir Road, Gangal, and Khana.
Moreover, AMI meters were also deployed at various transformers in Korang Town and Westridge. The plan involves the installation of over 900,000 AMI meters, initially targeting Rawalpindi City Circle, Rawalpindi Cantonment Circle, and Taxila Division, with the project expected to be completed by June 2026.
To expedite the process, IESCO has engaged two contractors to install around 2,000 AMI meters daily within the targeted areas. This initiative is supported financially by the Asian Development Bank under the Second Power Distribution Enhancement Investment Program.

I’ve also entered a complaint. But nothing. Then spent to portal but zero result.
So the government wants the public to attend open kacheris like in colonial times to get their issues resolved. They want the people to remain busy either on the roads or in such kacheris held by these corrupt and inefficient babus and yet see their problems unresolved. What are the apps meant for? Why does not the government reintroduce the app PCP, it was not perfect but still one could register one’s complaint.
Its more like complains ignored instead of resolving.
I have made 5 complaints and they just mark it resolve and close them without any action. Shame on IESCo
