Rawalpindi Test Match In Limbo After Latest Weather Update

Concerns are mounting over the upcoming Rawalpindi Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, as the Meteorological Department has forecasted rain for all five days of the match, scheduled to start on August 21.

This weather prediction has cast a shadow over the much-anticipated Test, which is part of the ongoing series between the two cricketing nations.

According to sources, the expected downpour has already impacted preparations at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The ground staff has yet to begin work on the pitch, delaying crucial decisions about the playing surface.

The uncertainty surrounding the weather has left officials in a dilemma, as no final decision has been made on which pitch will be used for the Test.

The possibility of persistent rain throughout the match could significantly disrupt play, leading to potential delays or even abandonment of the Test match.

The Rawalpindi Test is an essential fixture for both teams in the World Test Championship, and any rain-related interruptions could have significant implications for the series.

With just days remaining until the scheduled start, all eyes are on the weather forecast, hoping for a change that would allow for uninterrupted play.

Earlier on Tuesday, Bangladesh men’s cricket team arrived in Lahore from Dhaka to play a two-match Test series against Pakistan.

The team was taken to a private hotel under strict security arrangements from the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore. Pakistan will take on Bangladesh in Karachi Stadium for the second Test match that will kickstart from August 30 till September 3.
