Salman Ali Agha Ready to Step-Up As Pakistan’s Sole Spinner in Abrar Ahmed’s Absence

Pakistan’s all-rounder Salman Ali Agha is gearing up for a crucial role as the sole spinner in the first Test against Bangladesh which is set to begin on August 21 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

This match marks an important fixture in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 as Bangladesh returns to Pakistan for a Test tour after a four year wait.

During a press conference at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday, Salman Ali Agha expressed his confidence in taking on this responsibility as Pakistan’s sole spinner in the absence of mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed.

Despite being the only spinner in Pakistan’s squad, he remains unfazed by the challenge. “I have played as the lone spinner in Australia and performed well there,” Salman noted, emphasizing that he does not feel pressured by the situation.

The Rawalpindi pitch which has been prepared with a green top favoring fast bowlers, led the selectors to opt for an all-pace attack.

However, Salman is prepared to make the most of the conditions, stating, “The pitch in Rawalpindi looks green and seems to favor fast bowlers more.”

Salman also highlighted the strong camaraderie within the team, dismissing any external distractions. “The atmosphere in the team is healthy. All players support each other like brothers and friends. We have nothing to do with whatever is going on social media.” he said.

The second Test of the series has been moved to Rawalpindi from Karachi due to construction at the National Bank Arena. The match will now be held from August 30 to September 3.
