iPhone 16 Pro Models to Be Produced in India for The First Time

In a significant shift in Apple’s manufacturing strategy, the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro series is set to be produced in India, marking the first time the tech giant’s Pro series iPhones will be manufactured outside of China.

According to the Bloomberg report, Foxconn India, one of Apple’s key manufacturing partners, will spearhead this initiative. The company plans to begin production of the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max at its Indian facilities within weeks of their official launch. This move represents a notable expansion of Apple’s manufacturing presence in India, previously limited to non-Pro iPhone models.

Apple’s manufacturing presence in India has been steadily growing over the past seven years, with the tech giant assembling iPhones in the country since 2017. A recent report highlights the significant role India now plays in Apple’s global production strategy, revealing that the country currently accounts for 14% of total iPhone output. This share is projected to increase dramatically soon, with expectations that India could be responsible for a quarter of all iPhone production as early as next year.

Rumors suggest that Apple may take an unprecedented step with its iPhone 17 lineup. According to industry insiders, the company is considering launching production of the iPhone 17 exclusively in India, marking a potential shift in Apple’s manufacturing strategy.
