The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is scrambling to secure a broadcaster for the highly anticipated three-match Test series against England, as concerns mount over a potential television blackout in the UK.
Traditionally, Sky Sports has been the go-to network for England’s overseas Test series, maintaining a decades-long relationship with the team.
However, in a surprising turn, the broadcaster has opted out of bidding for this year’s series, raising alarms within international cricketing circles.
Despite the setback, PCB sources stated, “The absence of a broadcaster’s commitment does not imply that negotiations have stalled, we are actively engaged in discussions, and with over seven weeks left before the series begins, we are hopeful that cricket fans in England will not miss out on this exciting contest.”
The uncertainty comes at a critical time for Pakistan, which is navigating a busy cricket calendar. The national team is currently engaged in a two-Test series against Bangladesh on home soil.
Following that, England is set to visit Pakistan in October, marking a significant event in the cricket calendar for the Men in Green.
Looking ahead, Pakistan’s schedule intensifies with tours to Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa in November and December.
These tours will see Pakistan competing in white-ball cricket against Australia and Zimbabwe, while the South Africa series will include matches across all three formats.
The looming challenge is ensuring that cricket enthusiasts in the UK can witness these key moments live.
