Negotiations between prominent Pakistani footballers, Adeel Younas and Waqar Baloch, and second-tier Azerbaijani club Difai Agsu collapsed on Saturday.
Sources revealed that the deal reportedly fell through after one of the players found the offer from the Azerbaijani club unappealing, leading to the simultaneous breakdown of negotiations for both players.
The two Pakistani footballers were expected to join Difai Agsu in a package deal, which would have marked a significant step in their careers as international footballers.
However, the refusal of one player to proceed with the terms led to the end of discussions, impacting both players’ potential transfers to the Azerbaijani football club.
Prior to the collapse, sources close to the negotiations had revealed that Adeel Younas, a forward for Popo Football Club known for his goal-scoring ability, and Waqar Baloch, a tenacious defender with international experience, were in negotiations for a potential transfer with the Azerbaijani side.
Younas, who has already made four appearances for the Pakistan national team under head coach Stephen Constantine, was expected to add firepower to Difai Agsu’s attack.
Meanwhile, Baloch, who showcased his defensive prowess as a center-back in matches against Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan, was poised to fortify the club’s backline once the deal materialized.
Despite the setback, both players remain key figures in Pakistani football, with Younas’s goal-scoring ability and Baloch’s defensive stability keeping them in high demand on the international stage.
