PM Shehbaz Directs to Wind up National Information Technology Board

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the closing of the National Information Technology Board (NITB) immediately.

Sources told ProPakistani that the PM office has written a letter to Coordinator to the Prime Minister Rana Ihsan Afzal and Secretaries of relevant ministries with regard to Digitization of Prime Minister office and implementation of E-Office.

During a meeting on the subject held earlier this month, the prime minister issued directions with regard to implementation of E-Office in Prime Minister’s Office/Secretariat within three days.

In addition, the PM office also directed Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication to start the legislative process for winding up of the National Information Technology Board (NITB) immediately along with a well-structured plan for the transfer of its functions/assets

The PM office also directed concern departments the Task Management System to be linked with the E-Office application, ensuring interoperability.

Besides Minister for Economic Affairs and Rana Ihsaan Afzal, Secretary Cabinet and Minister of State for IT & Telecom will finalize strategic vision for automation, along with change management plan to achieve the vision.

It is pertinent to note that the rightsizing committee also proposed the closing of four departments, including NITB.
