Four Police Officials Fired From Service in Islamabad

Four police officers in Islamabad, including a Station House Officer (SHO), have been fired, and another officer has been demoted following their involvement in stealing valuables recovered from robbers and conducting faulty investigations. This decision comes after an inquiry revealed illegal practices at the Noon and Tarnol police stations in Islamabad.

The inquiry, conducted by the SP I-Area Zone, found the SHO of Noon police station, a sub-inspector, and three constables guilty of misconduct. As a result, they were dismissed from their positions. Additionally, a sub-inspector at the Tarnol police station had his rank reverted due to similar charges.

The SHO of Noon police station had a history of disciplinary issues. In 2021, he was dismissed after two individuals wanted by Peshawar police for attempted murder escaped from custody. Although he was reinstated after appealing the decision, his rank was initially reduced to assistant sub-inspector before being restored to sub-inspector following another appeal.

The dismissal orders, issued by Deputy Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Raza, were based on a special report from the SHO of Wah Cantt, Rawalpindi. The report detailed that suspects in a robbery case had been arrested and later released by the capital police near Chungi No 26, Noon police station, without any legal action being taken. The suspects claimed they were released after paying a bribe, highlighting inefficiency and misconduct within the police force.

The inquiry confirmed these allegations, and the officials could present their case on August 28. However, their verbal and written responses were deemed unsatisfactory, failing to demonstrate professional conduct. Consequently, they were found guilty of gross misconduct under the Punjab Police (E&D) Rules-1975, adopted by the ICT Police.
