PCB Investigates Conflict of Interest Allegations Against Official in Billboard Advertising Case

A potential conflict of interest investigation involving a senior official of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started, reportedly the official worked for the Human Resources department.

The inquiry was prompted after it was discovered that the official’s company participated in a recent bidding process for outdoor billboard advertising by the PCB.

The PCB had called for bids to prequalify companies for its billboard advertising campaign. Among the applicants was a firm with ties to the HR official, raising concerns over transparency and potential misconduct.

Upon this revelation, the company was immediately disqualified from the bidding process, and a formal investigation was launched.

Initially, the official denied any connection to the company in question. However, after further scrutiny, he admitted to his involvement, sparking concerns within the PCB.

The board has since formed a committee to thoroughly, examine the matter and investigate any additional allegations.

Despite some colleagues allegedly attempting to protect the official, sources close to the matter report that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is committed to ensuring transparency. The Chairman has vowed that any decisions will be based on evidence, with strict actions promised if any wrongdoing is confirmed.

The investigation is ongoing, and the PCB has opted not to comment publicly until the inquiry is complete. This case follows a previous scandal where a former director was found to have funneled contracts to his own companies, although that incident was addressed separately.
