International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the dates for the 2025 ICC World Test Championship final, set to be held at Lord’s, London.
The prestigious one-off Test match is scheduled to take place from June 11th to June 15th, with June 16th reserved as a backup day in case of disruptions.
This marks the first time the iconic Lord’s Ground will host the World Test Championship final, following previous finals held in Southampton (2021) and The Oval (2023), where New Zealand and Australia emerged as champions, respectively.
The match will feature the top two teams from the current World Test Championship standings after the calendar cycle of two years i.e. 2023-2025.
Currently, India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, tops the table, with Australia close behind. However, the competition remains fierce, with New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Bangladesh all vying for a coveted spot in the final.
Geoff Allardice, the ICC CEO, highlighted the growing significance of the World Test Championship in the global cricket calendar.
“The ICC World Test Championship Final has quickly become one of the most anticipated events in the cricketing world. We expect a high demand for tickets, and I encourage fans to register their interest early to secure their chance to witness the Ultimate Test,” Allardice remarked.
With excitement building, cricket enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the showdown at Lord’s, where the world’s best will battle for the ultimate prize.
