Mohammad Wasim Jr., Imad Wasim, Hasan Ali & More Key Players Absent from Champions Cup Lineup

As the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially announced the squads for the upcoming Champions Cup, several prominent players were absent from the competition. The tournament, set to take place in Faisalabad, will proceed without the participation of some centrally contracted players and other notable cricketers due to various reasons, including personal commitments, rehabilitation, and fitness issues.

Among the centrally contracted players not participating in the Champions Cup are Mohammad Nawaz, who has cited personal reasons for his absence, and Imad Wasim, who is currently unavailable due to his commitments in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Several other players have made themselves unavailable for the tournament. Ahmed Shehzad, Azam Khan (also playing in the CPL), Haris Sohail, Mohammad Amir (CPL), Mohammad Abbas (currently engaged in county cricket in the UK), Mohammad Ilyas, and Umar Akmal will not feature in the competition.

Additionally, several players are currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, including Ahsan Ali, Athar Mahmood, Rizwan Hussain, and Zeeshan Zamir, alongside Arshad Iqbal, Hasan Ali, Ihsanullah, and Mohammad Wasim Jnr.

Nine domestic contracted players were excluded from the Champions Cup squads after failing to meet the required fitness standards. These players include Ali Shafique, Ali Zaryab, Arif Yaqoob, Danish Aziz, Mohammad Rameez Jnr, Saad Baig, Rameez Aziz, Sharjeel Khan, and Shawaiz Irfan.

While the tournament will miss the experience and skill of these notable cricketers, it also opens the door for emerging talent to step up and make their mark on the domestic stage.
