Pakistan Recognized as Tech Destination of the Year at GITEX GLOBAL 2024

Pakistan’s rapidly growing Information Technology (IT) sector has been recognized as the “Tech Destination of the Year” at the 44th GITEX Global Technology Show, taking place from October 14 to 18, 2024.

As the largest technology event in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia (MENASA), GITEX Global 2024 has become a vital platform for exploring cutting-edge innovations and the future of AI-driven economies.

Pakistan’s extensive presence at this year’s GITEX further underscores its increasing prominence on the global technology stage. With a central theme of “Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy,” GITEX 2024 showcases how artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation are reshaping industries worldwide, and Pakistan’s IT sector is leading the charge.

The TechdestiNation Pakistan Pavilion, organized by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), is one of the largest national representations at GITEX this year, featuring more than 80 leading companies and startups.

Pakistan’s IT sector, now recognized as a global player, continues to thrive, with its exports becoming a top-five earner for the nation’s economy. Zeeshan Khattak, Chief Executive Officer, PSEB, emphasized the growing importance of Pakistan as a leading tech destination, attracting foreign investment, partnerships, and business opportunities.

The country’s competitive advantages include a skilled talent pool, with over 75,000 IT graduates annually from over 250 universities, a thriving freelance community, and the most financially attractive outsourcing destination according to Kearney’s Global Location Index. Pakistan offers IT services at a 70% reduction in operational costs compared to North America, making it an ideal destination for companies looking to optimize their operations.

Pakistan’s digital infrastructure is also rapidly advancing with a growing internet penetration over 140 million users. These factors, along with the government’s focus on data centers and submarine cables, position Pakistan as a hub for data-intensive operations, cloud services, and global collaborations.

At GITEX, Pakistan is further amplifying its presence through the Connexion Lounge, a space for Pakistani IT companies to connect with international counterparts, engage in B2B sessions, and explore partnerships.

The recognition of Pakistan as the “Tech Destination of the Year” marks a milestone in its journey to becoming a global tech hub. With support from both the government and the private sector, Pakistan’s IT industry is poised to continue its upward trajectory, driving innovation and economic growth.
