Xiaomi’s next foldable phone appears to have leaked in live images ahead of its official launch. Just like Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Mix Fold 5 is also expected to be Xiaomi’s first-ever wide foldable phone.
The device is believed to be an engineering unit of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5, although some reports suggest it could also arrive as the Mix Fold 6. The leaked images show what appears to be Xiaomi’s next-generation foldable running HyperOS 4 based on Android 17.
Live Images Leaked
The leaked phone reportedly shows a software version starting with 4.0, which matches Xiaomi’s usual naming pattern for major HyperOS updates.
The device is also said to carry the codename “lhasa.” This codename has previously been linked to Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable phone.
The leak suggests that Xiaomi may use the Mix Fold 5 to introduce HyperOS 4, but the company has not confirmed the software or the phone yet.

Launch May Be Close
The phone has reportedly received certification in China, which suggests that the launch may not be far away.
Several reports claim Xiaomi could unveil the device as early as August 2026. Unlike the upcoming Xiaomi 18 series, which is expected to wait for Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset, the Mix Fold 5 is tipped to use Xiaomi’s in-house Xring O3 processor.
Wide and Compact Design
The latest leak also points to a major design change.
Xiaomi is reportedly moving toward a wider and more compact foldable form factor. This would mark a shift from the taller design used on earlier Mix Fold models.
The foldable display is expected to measure between 7.5 inches and 7.6 inches. The device is also tipped to offer improved crease handling.
Camera and Battery
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 could feature a 200MP primary camera, according to the leak.
A previous report also claimed that the phone may launch with a horizontal Leica-branded camera module. Other rumored features include a 6,000mAh battery, wireless charging, full water resistance, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Expected Price
The phone is rumored to cost around $1,475 in China.
Xiaomi has not confirmed the name, launch date, price, chipset, camera hardware, battery size, or software version. For now, all leaked details should be treated as speculation until the company makes an official announcement.
